Hanover Co. judge denies bond in ax case

A Hanover County judge denied bond for a Lee-Davis High School student, who is charged with attacking another classmate with an ax, which cut part of the victim’s cheek, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.

Omar K. Abdelaal, 16, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding.

The judge watched a surveillance tape of the attack Monday. The video showed Abdelaal leave a group of young people and return with an ax, which he swung once.

The victim’s sliced cheek took 150 stitches.
