Closing argument: prosecution

Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Newman told the jury that the Curtis Wayne King case is simple.

Newman said that witnesses saw King with a .38-caliber revolver at Express Line the night of the shooting. Witnesses saw King fire the weapon.

A .38- or .357-caliber bullet was recovered from Garland Thomas Glass Jr.‘s body, Newman said. A forensic scientist testified he couldn’t identify whether the bullet was a .38 or .357 because the diameter and weight of both bullet types are the same.

Newman said there was no evidence of anyone else having a .38 or .357 that night at Express Line.

The prosecutor said King changed his story from his first malicious wounding trial, to his conversation with detectives, to his testimony Tuesday.

“Based on the credibility of those witnesses, based on his own statements, there is no doubt that the defendant shot and killed Mr. Glass,“ Newman said.
