Murderer sentenced to 32 years in prison

A Danville Circuit Court judge sentenced a local man Wednesday to 32 years in prison for the August killing of Ashley Dawn Echols.

Man sentenced in Danville court on drug charges

A Smithfield man was sentenced Tuesday in Danville federal court for drug charges after he set up a cocaine purchase for $24,000 from an undercover Pittsylvania County sheriff’s deputy.

Anthony Tyrell Holland, of Smithfield, was sentenced to five years and 10 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine powder.

Danville woman reports scam

A 69-year-old woman said someone tried to scam $600, then $500, from her Tuesday.
