Dear Fred: Let’s do lunch. Your pal, Robert
Nothing feels as strange as a cordial argument. Recently, I found myself debating Danville City Councilman Fred Shanks over Neal Morris’ write-in campaign for Danville City Council. The debate took place on Fred’s Facebook page.

A couple of things to note about my exchange with Fred. It was cordial. It was informative. And if you’re not on Facebook, then the whole thing flew under the radar during the closing days of the Danville City Council campaign.
I’d like to think that we kept it clean and positive because we knew one another and we posted our comments next to our names and pictures. We live in the real world and stand a better-than-average chance of running into one another.
Fred’s a good guy in the real world, so I had no worries about “debating” him online, although he missed that whole remark about me being an, “ink-stained wretch of the written word.”
So, Fred, I’ll need to explain it to you over lunch. I’ll call you.

I told Fred about this at Saturday’s “Festival In The Park”.
Looks like somebody didn’t make that phone call…

Well, how about some follow-up?
When’s lunch? Mind if I cover this
“meeting of the minds”?
:D
